Black Narcissus

I recently watched the film Black Narcissus, 1947. I am struck by the rich images pitting severe Western austerity and asceticism with Eastern mysticism and sensuality, as protestant nuns struggle to establish a school in the Himalayas who’s enigmatic winds stir the emotions of their pasts which they’ve tried to leave behind.  Amazingly progressive psychological themes and gorgeous cinematography.
